Materials & Transparency
Our Materials. Our Standards. Our Transparency.
At Samaya, we believe that conscious choices start with clarity.
This is why every product we offer is classified into one of three material categories, each with clear definitions, limitations, and reasoning.
We are not a “100% sustainable” brand — we are an eco-conscious, transparency-first brand.
We prioritize honesty over perfection, practicality over marketing claims, and informed choice over greenwashing.
Below is our complete, structured material framework.
1) NATURAL MATERIALS
Materials derived directly from nature with minimal processing.
Includes:
• Cork
• Bamboo
• Wood
• Straw / Natural weaves
• Cotton
• Jute-like fibers
Characteristics:
• Renewable in many cases
• Warm, organic texture
• Biologically derived
• Visually premium
• Gentle on skin
Why We Use Them:
Natural materials make everyday essentials feel better, last longer, and reduce dependence on pure synthetics.
Examples at Samaya:
Cork yoga wheel, bamboo toothbrushes, wooden cutlery, bamboo-handle cutlery, straw tote bags.
2) RECYCLED / PART PLANT-BASED MATERIALS
Materials partially derived from plant sources or incorporating recycled content.
Includes:
• Wheat-straw composites
• Recycled plastic blends
• Cork-rubber blends
Characteristics:
• Reduced virgin plastic
• Balanced durability
• Lightweight
• Not fully biodegradable
Why We Use Them:
Some products require strength or structure that natural materials alone cannot provide. These blends offer a meaningful middle ground.
Examples:
Wheat-straw iPhone cases, certain accessory components.
3) ECO-CONSCIOUS SYNTHETICS
Durable modern materials selected for longevity and reusability.
Includes:
• Stainless Steel
• PU (synthetic leather)
• Oxford fabric
• Polyester
• TAC lenses
• EVA / ABS / PP plastics
• Synthetic bases in yoga props
Characteristics:
• High durability
• Long life cycle
• Strong structural support
• Lightweight & travel-friendly
Why We Use Them:
We choose synthetics only when they meaningfully reduce single-use waste, enhance longevity, or improve safety.
OUR MATERIAL PRINCIPLES
1. No Overclaims. Ever.
We never use terms like “biodegradable,” “compostable,” “organic,” “zero plastic,” or “100% natural” unless verified through certifications.
2. Supplier Accountability
We rewrite unclear supplier descriptions using conservative, honest wording — or we reject the product entirely.
3. Durable > Disposable
Durability is a form of sustainability. A long-lasting item that replaces 100 disposable items is a conscious choice.
4. No Greenwashing Psychology
We avoid vague terms like “eco material” or “environmentally safe” and instead explain exactly what a material is.
5. Transparency Above Marketing
If a product contains mixed materials, we list every component clearly.
HOW WE LABEL MATERIALS ON PRODUCT PAGES
Every product page includes:
• All materials used
• Material category
• Blends or composites
• Functional synthetics
• Why they were chosen
This helps customers shop with clarity and confidence.
HOW WE IMPROVE OVER TIME
As Samaya grows, we plan to:
• Increase natural materials
• Add certified recycled materials
• Improve supplier verification
• Introduce OEKO-TEX/GOTS-certified products
• Add biodegradable items only when evidence supports claims
Sustainability is a journey, not an absolute.
Our Goal
Our goal is not to be perfect.
Our goal is to be honest, practical, and continuously improving.
Samaya stands for mindful progress — one thoughtful product at a time.
Thank you for choosing clarity and conscious living with Samaya.
